Mallow cultivation methods and precautions

Mallow cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

Mallow has relatively high requirements for soil quality. It is best to choose soil that is breathable, nutritious and acidic. You can use nutrient soil or leaf mold, and add sand to increase air permeability, as well as some base fertilizer, etc.

2. Temperature

Mallow likes warmth, so it is best grown between 18 and 25 degrees. It has some cold tolerance, but not particularly good. The temperature needs to be kept at around three to five degrees in winter, no lower, otherwise it is easy to suffer from frost damage.

3. Lighting

The plant likes light, and during the growth period it needs to be provided with good light to meet its growth requirements. However, in the summer, it needs appropriate shading to block out excessive light, and in the winter it should be placed in a bright place, such as near a window.

4. Watering

It does not require too much water. Waterlogging will cause its roots to rot. Just keep the soil from being too dry. When watering, follow the principle of "better dry than wet", and do not water too much in winter.

5. Fertilization

It has a relatively high demand for fertilizer and needs compound fertilizer during the growth period to provide sufficient nutrients. Fertilizer is also needed during the flowering period, and the main type is phosphorus fertilizer.

6. Notes

Mallow grows vigorously. If its branches are not trimmed for a long time, they will grow very messy and affect light transmittance. Please note that regular pruning is required, and some of the branches that are too dense should be cut off, as well as diseased and dry branches.
