The difference between Shenshan Michelia and Lechang Michelia

1. Difference of blades

The leaves of Michelia alpinia are leathery, dark green on the surface and light green on the back. They are oblong-elliptical, about 7-18 cm long and 3.5-8.5 cm wide, with 7-12 lateral veins on each side. The leaves of Lechang Michelia are thin leathery, obovate or oblong-obovate, smaller than the former, similar in color to the former, and have 9-15 lateral veins on each side.

2. The difference between flowers

Michelia sempervivum has 9 tepals, which are pure white in color, slightly pink at the base, and the outer ones are obovate. The Lechang Michelia has 6 tepals, which are light yellow in color, and the outer ones are obovate-oval.

3. The difference between fruits

The aggregate fruit of Michelia saburota is 7-15 cm long, the follicles are oblong or oval, and the seeds are red. The aggregate fruit of Michelia lechangensis is smaller than the former, about 10 cm, and the follicles and seeds are similar to the former.
