The difference between herbaceous peony and herbaceous peony

The difference between herbaceous peony and herbaceous peony

1. Difference of blades

The leaves at the bottom of the stem of grass peony are twice-ternate compound leaves, about 14-28 cm long. The terminal leaflets are obovate or broadly elliptical, with a short pointed apex and a cuneate base. They are dark green on the surface and light green on the back. The leaves on the upper stem are trifoliate or simple. The leaflets of peony are elliptical, lanceolate or narrowly ovate, with a variety of leaf colors, including yellow-green, dark green or dark green, and pink-green on the back.

2. The difference between flowers

The grass peony has a single flower at the top, with broad ovate sepals, 6 petals, white, purple and red, obovate, and light pink filaments. The original species of peony is white in color, with 5-13 petals and yellow filaments. Nowadays, there are many horticultural varieties with diverse colors and hundreds of petals.
