Cultivation methods and precautions of Tiger Pilan

Cultivation methods and precautions of Tiger Pilan

1. Soil

The roots of Sansevieria are fleshy roots, which are afraid of waterlogging and require well-drained sandy loam. As for those who do not require high fertility levels, you can use garden soil, leaf mold, or peat and river sand, mixed in a 1:1 ratio.

2. Lighting

If you want the leaves of Sansevieria to grow strong, you need sufficient light. It requires direct sunlight but can also tolerate partial shade. Long-term growth in a semi-shade environment will make the leaves weak. Try to place it in an environment with plenty of sunlight.

3. Water

Sansevieria requires sufficient water, but no water accumulation, so watering is sufficient to ensure that the soil in the pot is slightly moist but not waterlogged. The frequency of watering can be slightly more frequent during the growing period, and the amount of watering should be controlled during the dormant period, so that it is better to be dry than wet.

4. Repotting

Tiger Piranha is not very demanding on fertilizer. It is relatively resistant to barrenness, but sufficient fertilizer can make it grow strong and beautiful. For indoor maintenance, you can replace the potting soil once every two years or so, which can basically meet its basic needs.

5. Notes

1. A too dark light environment is not conducive to its growth, but direct sunlight in summer will also have a certain impact, such as leaf burns. Especially when the light is strong in summer, do not spray water on the leaves, otherwise leaf scabs will form on the leaves.

2. Generally speaking, an environment with a temperature of 6 to 10 degrees is suitable for wintering. Low temperatures below 5 degrees will cause frost damage.

3. During maintenance, you can regularly trim the aging leaves to encourage new leaves to sprout from the bottom. This way, the leaves can remain strong, and the trimmed leaves can be used for cuttings to propagate new plants.

4. When ventilation is poor, scale insects will occur, and an overly humid environment will cause harm by slugs. When there are fewer insect pests, you can brush them off with an old toothbrush or catch them with tweezers.

5. Tiger Skin Orchid will bloom if maintained in a certain environment, but it is not beautiful. Therefore, it is recommended to cut off the flower buds in time once they appear, so that the nutrients can be concentrated on the leaves for growth. This will be more beneficial to its maintenance.
