How to fertilize gardenia and what fertilizer to use

How to fertilize gardenia and what fertilizer to use

1. Fertilization time

First of all, when planting gardenia, using some fertilizer is beneficial to its growth. Secondly, fertilizer is needed during the growth stage, and then additional fertilizer is needed during the flowering period.

2. Fertilizer Types

The base fertilizer used during planting is generally some solid fertilizer, and some slow-release fertilizer can also be used. Organic liquid fertilizer can be used for top dressing during the growth period, which can be purchased directly from flower shops. The other thing is the extra fertilizer used during the flowering period, which is mainly phosphorus fertilizer, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

3. Fertilization method

1. Organic liquid fertilizer and potassium dihydrogen phosphate must be added with water and diluted before use. Do not use concentrated fertilizer. When using base fertilizer, it needs to be mixed with the soil and then stirred evenly; if it is a slow-release fertilizer, it can be directly bought into the soil.

2. Fertilization can be applied once a month during the growth period. The potassium dihydrogen phosphate used before the flowering period needs to be used once a week until flowering, and it can be used once after the flowering period, which is beneficial to subsequent growth.

IV. Precautions

1. It is best to loosen the soil one day before fertilizing so that it can be better absorbed after fertilizing the next day.

2. Specifically, it is suitable to apply fertilizer in the morning or evening, but not at noon.
