What to do if the money tree is dying in winter

What to do if the money tree is dying in winter

Determine the cause

First of all, we need to determine what is causing its impending death so that we can prescribe the right remedy.

Causes of death in winter:

1. The temperature is too low and they are frozen to death;

2. In winter, because the temperature does not reach the temperature required for its growth, the growth rate will be seriously reduced. At this time, the demand for water and nutrients will also decrease. If you still water it at the same amount as before, it will cause the soil to be too moist for a long time, causing root rot and death; if you fertilize it as before, it will cause fertilizer damage and lead to death.

The above two reasons are the most common reasons.

Workaround

When the money tree is in winter, the temperature must not be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise it will easily be frostbitten and frozen to death. If frost damage has occurred, you must first change the temperature, or simply move it to another place. The minimum temperature should be maintained above 15 degrees, and there should be plenty of sunlight and good air circulation. At this time, because it has been frostbitten, do not water or fertilize, otherwise it will only make the frost damage worse, as water absorbs heat. You can water it after about 3 to 5 days, and then it will slowly send out new branches and buds, gradually trim off all the old branches and leaves, and then maintain it according to normal maintenance methods.

If it is facing death due to excessive water, its roots may have rotted. If the condition is serious, you need to change the soil and cut the roots to allow it to take root again, and all the soil must be replaced with new ones.
