Rose cutting method in June

Rose cutting method in June

Rose is a common flower . It has beautiful flower shape and rich colors, and is a favorite plant of many flower lovers. There are many methods for propagating roses, among which cuttings are a simple and effective method. It can maintain the characteristics of the mother plant, and has a high survival rate, and is suitable for large-scale propagation. Let’s talk about the rose cutting method in June.

1. Rose cutting method in June

1. Choose healthy rose branches and cut them into segments about 15 cm long. Keep 3-4 leaves in each segment. Use scissors to cut off the lower leaves and leave the upper leaves to reduce water evaporation.

2. Apply a layer of rooting powder on the lower cut of the rose branch to promote rooting.

3. Prepare a transparent plastic bottle, cut off the bottle mouth, rinse it with water, and then make a few small holes in the bottom of the bottle to allow drainage.

4. Put some leaf mold or peat soil in the bottle, compact it, then use a bamboo stick to poke a few small holes in the soil, insert the rose branches into the soil to a depth of 3-4 cm, and insert 3-4 branches in each bottle, not too densely.

5. Place the plastic bottle in a semi-shaded place, water it with an appropriate amount every day, keep the soil moist, and do not let water accumulate at the bottom of the bottle to avoid rot.

6. After about a month, the rose branches will take root and new buds and leaves will appear. At this time, you can cut open the plastic bottle and transplant the rose seedlings into pots or flower beds, continue to maintain them, and wait for them to bloom.

2. Summer Rose Cultivation Method

1. Heat insulation

. The temperature of the flower pot can be lowered by using measures such as covering the pot with insulation, sticking insulation materials on the outside of the pot, and raising the pot. After summer, the high temperature and direct sunlight will cause the potting soil to overheat, which can easily cause burns to the capillary roots and absorption problems.

2. Shade

Although roses can withstand full-day sunlight, the strong sunlight in summer will still cause them to grow slowly. They can be placed on the edge of a tree's shade, with appropriate shade at noon and in the afternoon to ensure ventilation and light. You can also spray water on the ground around the flowerpot to increase humidity and reduce temperature and enhance air circulation.

3. Watering

It rains continuously from July to August, so timely rain prevention and drainage are the key points in flower care. There should be no stagnant water in the pots, as too much water will easily cause root rot. The high temperature in summer has a strong transpiration effect. When the soil in the pot turns white, you should water it in time and water it thoroughly, avoiding the time when the midday sun is strong. For roses in small pots, you can use a deep pot tray and water them appropriately to avoid dry pots caused by strong transpiration. When watering, try not to splash water on the leaves to prevent diseases.

4. Fertilization

The principle in summer is to apply small amounts of fertilizer frequently. Use liquid phosphorus and potassium fertilizers mainly, and apply less nitrogen fertilizers. Generally, apply once every 15-20 days. You can also combine it with foliar fertilization by spraying fungicides .

5. Pruning

Usually, it is necessary to cut off the dead flowers, thin out the dense, dead and weak branches, remove the inner buds, clean the roots and fallen leaves to prevent the breeding of diseases and pests, combine pruning to reduce the height of the thick branches, and pay attention to leaving the height of the stump greater than 1cm and the direction of the cut buds during pruning.

6. Pest and disease control

As a famous medicine jar, the main treatment for rose diseases and pests in summer is sterilization and root rot prevention. Special attention should be paid to the occurrence and prevention of black spot disease and powdery mildew, scale insects, aphids, red spiders, etc. Among them, prevention and control is an effective means to ensure the health of leaves and roots. Many roses become bare after a summer, which is caused by the high incidence of black spot disease in summer. After being rained on, they should be sprayed with fungicides to prevent it. Another killer disease of roses is powdery mildew. To deal with the "two evils" of black and white, we must first solve the problems of ventilation and light transmission. We can use benzopyraclostrobin and flusilazole alternately every 5-7 days for 2-3 times in a row. If the amount of pests is small, use high-pressure water washing and an old toothbrush to remove them. If the amount is large, use imidacloprid, avermectin and other corresponding treatments.
