Cultivation methods and precautions of Dendrobium officinale

Plant habits and needs

First of all, this plant has a certain need for sunlight, but it cannot be too strong. Second, it also requires fertilizer, especially when it cannot absorb enough nutrients from the soil. In addition, it also needs to be pruned in time to help it grow healthily.

Specific methods

Light: Let’s first talk about the treatment after planting. At this time, you should put it in a cooler place with scattered light, and avoid using strong light. Let’s talk about the different treatments of the four seasons. The treatment in spring and autumn is similar, you can let it see the sunlight in the morning. Pay special attention in summer to avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, or even diffuse light. The winter sun is relatively not very strong, so you can put it in a place with better light.

Fertilization: First of all, we should understand that this plant has aerial roots, so we need to spray some foliar fertilizer to supplement the nutrients needed by the plant to facilitate its growth. Generally speaking, you can apply fertilizer about a week after planting, once every seven to ten days, and use it three times in a row. After new sprouts appear, apply fertilizer every ten days or half a month. Especially in areas with poor soil, attention should be paid to topdressing. The first time can be mixed with some nitrogen fertilizer using animal manure, and the time should be around Qingming Festival. The second time is at the beginning of winter, when fertilizers such as rapeseed cake are applied to the roots.

Pruning: This will prevent the environment from being too shaded. Every spring, we can cut off the sick or aging roots and stems of the plants.

Precautions

When giving plants light, it is best to place them in a place with good air circulation, especially in summer.
