Four points to note when planting flowers on the balcony

Four points to note when planting flowers on the balcony

Balcony flowers need to pay attention to wind

If it is an enclosed balcony, this is not a problem, but when growing flowers, if it is an open-air balcony, you need to pay attention to the wind.

The wind is relatively smooth, but if the wind is too strong, it can easily cause damage to the plants. Pay attention to wind speed and protect the flowers.

Balcony flowers need to pay attention to light

Although the balcony is exposed to more sunlight, the amount of sunlight received varies depending on the orientation. Generally, south-facing balconies have stronger sunlight, while north-facing ones have relatively poorer sunlight. Therefore, flowers that like light, are heat-resistant and drought-resistant, such as cacti, petunias, sunflowers, roses, etc. are generally grown on south-facing balconies. The north-facing balcony has relatively poor lighting and no direct sunlight, so you can grow some shade-loving flowers. Such as asparagus fern, spider plant and so on.

Balcony flowers need to pay attention to the temperature

Balconies are generally made of cement. When exposed to sunlight, the temperature will rise, especially on west-facing balconies. The afternoon light will cause the temperature to rise significantly, which is very unfavorable for growth.

If the temperature is too high, sprinkle some water. When water evaporates, it takes away some heat.

Balcony flowers need to pay attention to water and air

When growing flowers on the balcony, if the ventilation is good, the air will be relatively dry. You should pay attention to watering and maintaining the air humidity. You can put a basin of water, and when the water evaporates, it can improve the surrounding microclimate.
