Garlic vine cultivation methods and precautions

How to grow garlic vine

Pot soil selection

When growing garlic vines at home, you can plant them in potted climbing plants or hang them directly on a sunny balcony. You need to choose suitable flower pots or hanging pots. The soil can be loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil, mixed with garden soil, peat soil, etc., and some decomposed base fertilizer applied.

Light and temperature

Growing garlic vine requires sufficient light and a warm climate. Maintain sufficient light, full sun is best. If there is insufficient light during maintenance, it will affect flowering, resulting in sparse or no flowering. The temperature must be maintained at a relatively high level. Garlic vine is not cold-resistant, and the suitable temperature for its growth is between 21℃-28℃. It grows vigorously in spring, summer and autumn, but will stop growing due to low temperatures in winter. The winter overwintering temperature needs to be kept above 5℃. Frost damage may occur if the temperature is lower than this.

Watering and fertilizing

In terms of water and fertilizer management, watering needs to be carried out according to changes in the environment. It grows vigorously in summer, and the temperature is high and the evaporation is large, so it needs to be watered frequently, and you can water it once a day. In winter, when the temperature is low, the plant will stop growing and watering will need to be reduced. It can be watered once every 3-4 days. When fertilizing, you can choose natural organic fertilizer, apply some base fertilizer when planting, and then use compound fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other elements every month.
