Sunlight

Sunshine is the most famous hybrid variety of the Protea and has become South Africa's main export flower. The color and height of the king protea are known throughout the world as the most luxurious and gorgeous fresh cut flowers, which is also the main reason why it is revered as the national flower in South Africa.

Lilium

The wood lily is also one of the most widespread species in the Protea family, adapting to different soil types and growing from sea level to 2,000 meters in the mountains. Wood lilies vary greatly in the size and color of their leaves and bracts. The wood lily is dioecious, which is rare in the Protea family. Its long flowering period (May-December), coupled with its colorful leaves and bracts surrounding the flower buds, makes it a very attractive garden tree.

Wood lilies are multi-branched shrubs with very strong rhizomes that can sprout and grow quickly even after a fire. Under natural conditions, wood lilies can grow to a height of 0.75-2 meters. Wood lilies can adapt to changes in growing climate conditions, such as warm winters in the plains to snow and frost in the mountains; as well as changes in leaves and bracts, such as from yellow-green to bright orange-red, and have become a popular choice for horticultural cultivation. In addition, she can also adapt to high-intensity pruning and can meet the needs of large-scale production of fresh cut flowers.

There are many varieties of wood lilies, which differ greatly in growth form, leaf and bract color, and flowering time. Some varieties are obtained through hybridization. 'Sunshine' is the best-known hybrid of the wood lilies and has become an export flower in some countries. It is a tall, upright, lush, multi-branched shrub that can grow to a height of 2.5 meters. From autumn to late spring, 'Sunshine' can grow deep red bracts on long stems. When it blooms, these bracts open to set off the cheese-like flower core, which is particularly beautiful.

Red Fireball King Flower

Wild red fireball king flowers grow in deep sandy soil. When planted artificially, they can adapt well to any well-drained soil, especially hillsides with a slight slope to assist drainage. Although wild plants grow under sparse woods, it is best to plant them in a full-sun environment so that the flowers will grow better.

The red fireball king flower is a popular flower in Australia, with farms growing it in places like northern Sydney and the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne for sale as cut flowers. Other regions, such as New Zealand, Hawaii and Israel, also have farms producing this flower.
