How long does it take for water spinach to germinate?

Generally speaking, it takes about 5-7 days for water spinach to germinate. Before sowing, soak the water spinach seeds in warm water for about 24 hours. This is conducive to improving the water absorption capacity of the epidermis. After disinfecting the soil, add an appropriate amount of decomposed organic fertilizer and deep plow. After sowing, cover it with a layer of mulch and water it to keep it moist.

Sprouting time

It takes 7 days for water spinach to germinate. Usually, the sowing time of water spinach should be chosen after mid-to-late April. When sowing, just put 3-4 seeds in the sowing hole. In addition, it is necessary to water thoroughly immediately after sowing so that the water spinach seeds can germinate faster.

Management of water spinach after emergence

1. When the water spinach seedlings grow to 3-6cm, you can remove the plastic film. If the film is not removed in time, it will affect the growth of the water spinach seedlings, and more likely, cause the seedlings to die.

2. During the growth of water spinach seedlings, weeds will also grow along with them and compete with the water spinach for nutrients. It is necessary to weed in time and pull out all the weeds on the ground, but be careful not to damage the water spinach to ensure that the water spinach can grow well.

3. Water spinach is a vegetable that is harvested many times. It is necessary to apply not only basal fertilizer but also multiple topdressing to achieve high yield. During the seedling stage, 10%-15% manure and urine can be used for dredging. When the seedlings have 3-4 leaves, it is recommended to use a mixture of compound fertilizer and urea. During the harvest period, compound fertilizer should be used for topdressing every time it is harvested.
