The difference between sycamore and red hibiscus

Different flower shapes

The flowers of the plane tree have two major characteristics: the flowers hang down and the petals do not open. These two points are the main points that distinguish the sycamore from the red hibiscus.

The flowers of the plane tree and the hibiscus are actually very similar, but when the hibiscus blooms, the flowers face upwards. Sometimes when the hibiscus blooms, its flowers seem to be drooping, but if the receptacle of the hibiscus grows upward and the buds also grow upward, then it is a hibiscus flower. On the other hand, if the flowers hang downward, it is a plane flower.

The flowers of the red hibiscus are in full bloom, with the petals spread out to reveal the stamens. But the plane flower does shyly close its petals, leaving only the stamens visible from the petals.

Flowers vary in size

Simply put, the flowers of the plane flower are relatively small, while the flowers of the hibiscus are relatively large. Relatively speaking, the flowers of the hibiscus are nearly twice as large as those of the plane flower.

The corolla of the plane flower is funnel-shaped, and the calyx is five-lobed, which looks densely packed. When the plane flower blooms, the flowers are closed, with only the stamens sticking out of the petals. The whole flower looks very tightly closed, with almost no gaps.

The calyx of the Platanus tataricus is bell-shaped and relatively thick, the flower is also bell-shaped, and the petals are obovate, round and curved. The whole flower is slightly closed and does not look that big, with brown-yellow anthers.

The flowers of the plane tree are bright red and very rich in color, while the flowers of the striated plane tree are orange-yellow with purple-red stripes, and the color difference is very obvious.
