Pot soil selectionThe soil for the Chinese lucky charm plant should be rich in humus, loose, fertile, breathable, well-drained, and slightly acidic (pH 5-5.5). The most common materials used by families are leaf mold, river sand, a small amount of cake fertilizer, or decomposed chicken manure. Of course, to save the trouble of changing the soil, you can buy it directly from the flower shop. Repotting methodThe lifespan of the lucky tree is not very long. It usually blooms after 3 to 4 years, gradually withers after flowering, and then the plant is renewed after withering. Therefore, the pot should be changed every 1 to 2 years to ensure sufficient nutrient supply in the soil. Watering methodThe lucky plant likes a humid environment, and during the growing period, it needs to maintain high air humidity and sufficient moisture in the potting soil. Ensure that the soil in the pot is moist and control the humidity at 70% to 80%. The normal watering frequency is 5 to 7 days. For some hard-leaved species that require less water, keep the pot surface relatively dry. For soft-leaf species that require more water, the soil in the pot should always be kept moist, and the surface soil should not dry out. Always keep water in the leaf tube. Lack of water in the leaf tube can easily cause the plant to wilt. After autumn, the growth of the lucky bamboo slows down, and watering and spraying should be properly controlled. After entering the dormant period, control watering and keep the soil in the pot slightly moist. Do not water unless the soil is dry. If the soil is too wet, the roots will rot easily. Keep the bottom of the leaf tube moist, but don't give it too much water to avoid rot. Fertilization methodFertilize once every 10 to 20 days during the growing season, using fermented cake fertilizer or chemical fertilizer. Fertilizers usually include nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and the concentration is controlled at 0.1% to 2.3%. When applying fertilizer, try not to apply it in the center of the plant to avoid causing harm. Fertilization should be stopped during flowering, dormancy and summer. Lighting requirementsThe growth of the lucky charm requires sufficient light, and the daily light time should be controlled at 12 to 16 hours. Under sufficient light, combined with high humidity and good ventilation conditions, the growth will be faster and better. The plant will become short, stout and strong, with short, broad and stiff leaves and bright and beautiful flowers. PrecautionsHumidity is very important for the growth of Chinese lucky charm, and the suitable relative humidity is 50%-75%. If the humidity is higher than 80%, ventilation should be strengthened, otherwise diseases or excessive growth may occur. When it is lower than 40%, the leaf tips may wither easily and need to be sprayed with water regularly to keep them moist. The maintenance of the lucky tree also depends on the species of the plant. For light-loving varieties such as the colorful-leaf lucky tree, more light should be provided and it should be placed on windowsills or balconies for maintenance. The quality of water used for watering is also very important for the lucky charm plant. It likes to grow in acidic soil and requires the water quality to be slightly acidic. It does not like salt, especially calcium and sodium salts. |
