How to take care of newly bought roses

How to take care of newly bought roses

1. How to deal with newly bought roses

After buying the rose, you should first use clean scissors to trim off the black and dry roots, then soak it in sterilization solution for 5-10 minutes, and then soak it in clean water for 30-60 minutes. After that, you need to replace the soil for it. At this time, you can mix garden soil, leaf mold and rice husk ash in a ratio of 5:2:3 to prepare its nutrient soil, apply some base fertilizer to the soil, and then fill it into the flowerpot so that its roots are completely buried in the soil. After planting, water the soil thoroughly and then place it in a cool and ventilated place.

2. How to cultivate newly bought roses

1. Light: It likes light, but when you first buy it, you need to put it in a well-ventilated place with scattered light to acclimate it. Do not put it directly in direct sunlight. Wait until it resumes growing, and then give it sufficient light. When the sunlight is strong in summer, appropriate shading is needed.

2. Watering: When you first buy it, you don’t need to water it too much. It is relatively drought-resistant. Under normal circumstances, you can water it when you see the soil turning white and dry. Each time you water it, you must water it thoroughly, but there should be no accumulation of water. During the high temperature period in summer, you need to water it once a day. You can sprinkle some water on the branches and leaves to cool down. During the winter dormancy period, water less and keep the soil semi-moist.

3. Temperature: It likes a warm environment and avoids heat. When you first buy it, you need to keep it in an environment with a temperature of about 20℃, which will help it adapt to the new environment. In summer, shade and watering are needed to reduce temperature. In winter, it is best to keep the room temperature above 18°C and have more than 6 hours of light a day.

4. Fertilization: It likes fertilizer, so you need to stop fertilizing when you just buy it. After spring, you can apply manure or other decomposed fertilizer every 4-5 days without interruption, especially in April, when it sprouts new branches and forms flower buds, and its nutrient demand is relatively large. After that, you can apply appropriate amount of topdressing according to the flowering period.
