Planting and management of forsythia trees, when to fertilize

Planting and management of forsythia trees, when to fertilize

1. Planting method

1. Site selection and land preparation: Choose a sunny, loose and fertile plot of land for planting. In autumn, deep plowing should be carried out, and it should be combined with land preparation and application of base fertilizer. For direct seeding, dig holes with a row spacing of 2 meters and a plant spacing of 1.3 meters. The hole depth and diameter should be 30-40 centimeters.

2. Direct seeding: The time for direct seeding should be in March or April in spring. Dig a small hole three centimeters deep between the prepared holes. Then select healthy and plump seeds and plant 5-10 seeds in each hole. After covering with soil, press slightly to allow the seeds to combine with the soil. It will bloom in about three or four years.

2. Management methods

1. Light: It likes the sun, so you must ensure sufficient light during management. No matter what season it is, it needs more sunlight. Lack of light will hinder normal growth and affect flowering and fruiting.

2. Watering: Although it has a certain degree of drought resistance, it cannot be in a drought state for a long time. Water regularly during the growing season to keep the soil moist. In addition, please note that it is afraid of waterlogging, so during the rainy season, drainage must be carried out to prevent water accumulation.

3. Fertilization: Fertilization for Forsythia should be done in spring, autumn and winter. Spring and autumn are its peak growth seasons, and it consumes more nutrients, so compound fertilizer liquid should be applied every 15-20 days. In winter, apply decomposed organic fertilizer to help it survive the winter. Note that you should stop applying fertilizer during high temperatures in summer to avoid fertilizer damage.
