What to do if the evergreen is poisoned?

Symptoms of Dieffenbachia poisoning

About 1 hour after an overdose, symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, headache, dizziness, salivation, anorexia, blurred vision, and fatigue may appear. In more severe cases, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a feeling of pressure in the precordial area, numbness of the limbs, cold extremities, pale skin, blurred vision, slow heartbeat, and decreased blood pressure may appear. In severe cases, the patient may become irritable, convulse, coma, and have dilated pupils. Various arrhythmias may occur, such as ventricular premature beats, atrioventricular block, atrial or ventricular tachycardia, atrioventricular dissociation, atrial fibrillation, or sinus bradycardia, sinoatrial block, and nodal rhythm. The patient may become extremely weak, develop delirium, suffer complete atrioventricular block, or even die.

How to cure Dieffenbachia poisoning

Seek medical attention promptly

Potassium salts are usually used for therapeutic diagnosis. 15-25 ml of 10% potassium chloride solution is added to 500 ml of 5% glucose solution and the solution is intravenously dripped over 2 hours under close observation of the heart. If the arrhythmia improves, it indicates poisoning by drugs containing cardiac glycosides.

Chinese Herbal Detoxification Formula

1. Boil 9g of ginseng, 9g of Ophiopogon japonicus, and 6g of Schisandra chinensis in water twice, mix together, and take it in 2 doses.

2. Boil 15g of licorice and 30g of mung bean in water and take it in two doses.

3. Add appropriate amount of sugar to strong tea and drink it frequently.

Clears away heat, detoxifies, strengthens the heart and promotes diuresis. Used to prevent and treat diphtheria, myocarditis caused by diphtheria, sore throat, rabies bites, bacterial dysentery, heart failure caused by rheumatic heart disease; used externally to treat bruises, snake bites, burns, mastitis, carbuncles and swellings.

Dosage

3 to 5 qian of rhizomes; 1 to 2 qian of leaves, apply appropriate amount externally, mash it to obtain the juice and apply it to the affected area, or mash it and apply it to the affected area.
