How to grow hydroponic anthurium in winter

How to grow hydroponic anthurium in winter

1. Change the water

Its roots are very lively and breathe very strongly, so if you grow it in water, you need to add water regularly, clean the green algae and water chestnuts on the roots, and remove the necrotic roots. Generally, you need to change the water every 2 or 3 days.

If it is a severe winter, you can change the water every seven days. Each time you change the water, you can add a little nutrient liquid. The nutrient solution should be exposed to the sun first to evaporate the chlorine.

Note that if you want to grow it in water, you only need to immerse half of the roots in water, and the rest should be exposed to the air to help it breathe. If the dissolved oxygen content is insufficient, the roots will easily rot.

2. Light temperature

It prefers warm and cool areas, and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. When growing in water, it should be placed in a good position with ventilation and no strong light. The temperature in winter cannot be lower than fourteen degrees. If it is too low, it will be frostbitten. Pay attention to increasing the temperature to keep it warm. The air humidity should be around 80 percent. Never take the anthurium outside, otherwise it will be frostbitten.

3. Oxygenation

This kind of flower often faces a dilemma, that is, once there is little oxygen in the water, its roots will easily rot, so you must pay attention to its oxygen content when growing it in water. The most convenient way is to vibrate it. Hold the flower in one hand and gently shake the container with the other hand, about ten times. This method can increase the oxygen by about 30%. If conditions permit, you can also add a little hydrogen peroxide to the nutrient solution, only 1% is enough, or use a small oxygen pump to add oxygen to it.
