Grow a pineapple yourself in the simplest way

Grow a pineapple yourself in the simplest way

Step 1: Choose a pineapple

This is the most critical step, which is to find a suitable pineapple. Buy a well-developed one from the market, and make sure to choose one without yellow spots on the leaves and scale insects. Be careful not to touch the leaves, otherwise they will fall off with a slight pull and it will be difficult to grow them.

Step 2: Cut the pineapple

Cut from the junction of the leaves and the pineapple, without the flesh.

Step 3: Peel the Leaves

Starting from the lower green leaflets, peel off the outer green leaves layer by layer, leaving 5-10 large leaves depending on the size of the leaf cluster. Be careful to only remove the outer green leaves. There may be some small leaves hidden among the green leaves, which can be retained.

Step 4: Hydroponic Rooting

After drying in a cool place for a few days, place it in a glass or suitable bottle for hydroponics, with the water level higher than half of the white stem but lower than the base of the leaves.

Place it in a bright, diffuse light place in front of a window and change the water every day.

Generally roots emerge within a few weeks.

Step 5: Potting

Pineapples have fibrous roots and are afraid of waterlogging in the soil. Ordinary soil is fine and the flowerpot doesn’t need to be very big. Change to a bigger pot when you repot it in the second year. Place it in a cool place first, and give it 6 hours of sunlight after a week. Keep the planting soil moist. To water, pour a small cup of water into the center of the foliage and onto the leaves, allowing the water to flow down the plant into the pot.

Start fertilizing when new leaves begin to appear. Prepare a small cup of fertilizer water at 1/4 the concentration specified in the fertilizer instructions, and pour it into the center of the foliage and on the leaves just like watering.

Healthy seedlings will soon grow out, and if you take good care of them, you can grow pineapples.
