What to do if rose leaves curl

What to do if rose leaves curl

1. Eliminate bacteria and cure diseases

Cause: Usually a bacterial disease caused by damp soil and poor ventilation, mostly powdery mildew.

Solution: If both old and new leaves begin to curl, powdery mildew can basically be diagnosed. To treat this disease, the first thing to do is to move the plant to a ventilated place in time, and apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to enhance resistance. If the disease is serious, it is necessary to spray pesticides for prevention and control.

2. Water more

Cause: Poor growth due to lack of water can also cause leaves to curl.

Solution: If the leaves are thin and lack luster, and the soil in the pot is dry and compacted, then the curling of the leaves is caused by lack of water. In this case, the soil needs to be loosened in time and some soil conditioners should be used to improve the soil quality. Then water it thoroughly.

3. Apply less fertilizer

Cause: Too much fertilizer causes root burn, which can cause leaves to curl.

Solution: When the leaves droop and some dry up and turn brown, it can be determined that it is caused by excessive fertilization. First, take the plant out of the pot, wash the soil with clean water, and cut off the burned roots.

4. Catching insects and spraying pesticides

Cause: Leaf curling due to pest infestation.

Solution: First, find the source of the pest, determine the type of insect, and then prescribe the right medicine. Generally, leaf curling is usually caused by thrips, which can be killed with diluted imidacloprid.
