Reasons why Clivia does not bloom

Reasons why Clivia does not bloom

Excessive sunlight

Clivia should avoid strong light, especially direct sunlight in summer, which will burn the leaves and inhibit the growth of the plant. Usually from May to September every year, the plants should be placed in a shed or in a semi-shaded environment without direct sunlight for maintenance.

The temperature is too high or the environment is too dry

The most suitable growth temperature for Clivia is 15~25℃. When the temperature is too high, the air is dry, and the ventilation is poor, the plant cannot grow normally and may even be damaged, which will affect flowering.

Pot soil compaction

Although soil may seem insignificant, it is indeed the most fundamental source of nutrients for the growth of Clivia. However, if the pots are not repotted and the soil is not changed for a long time, the nutrients in the soil will be lost, and the intensification of water and fertilizer will cause the soil to become compacted. If the soil drainage is poor, the plant will not get basic oxygen, the leaves will not grow properly, and flowering will inevitably be affected!

Lack of fertilizer

Clivia likes fertilizer, and will grow poorly and have difficulty blooming in a fertilizer-deficient environment! There are two reasons: one is that no base fertilizer was applied before planting, and the other is that no topdressing was applied during the growth period. Base fertilizer and top dressing are the most basic things in flower cultivation. If you forget this, how can you blame the Clivia for not blooming!

Growing space is too large or too small

Simply put, the pot of the Clivia is too big or too small. If the flowerpot is too small, the root growth will be restricted and the leaves will not be able to expand. The nutrients produced by photosynthesis will be less and the nutrients will be insufficient, so how can it bloom? If the flowerpot is too large, the plant's roots will be unstable and its growth will feel insecure, so it naturally cannot bloom!

In order for Clivia to bloom normally, daily maintenance is very important. If you adjust the maintenance methods according to the contents of the article, it will not be a problem to have flowers blooming every year!
