Common diseases of daffodils and how to prevent and control them

1. Botrytis cinerea

Symptoms: When daffodils are infected with this disease, the roots underneath will become soft and rot, and a gray mold layer will grow on the surface.

Prevention and control methods: This disease is mainly transmitted during storage. Make sure the storage place is dry and well ventilated. The bulbs must be disinfected before storage. If any diseased bulbs are found, they need to be picked out and destroyed in time.

2. Large brown spot disease

Symptoms: At the beginning of the disease, brown spots will appear on the leaves, gradually spreading to the entire leaf, and the pedicels will also be affected.

Prevention and control methods: Before planting, the bulbs must be disinfected. You can prepare a lot of fungicide solution for soaking and sterilization. When the disease occurs, you can spray it with Bordeaux mixture and pull out the diseased plants and destroy them.

3. Nematode disease

Symptoms: This disease mainly affects the leaves and flower stems, causing yellow-brown stripes to appear on them, and eventually causing the epidermis of the leaves and stems to break and even wither.

Prevention and control methods: Before cultivation, the plants need to be soaked in 0.5% formalin solution. If the plants are infected, they need to be removed and destroyed in time.

4. Yellow streak disease

Symptoms: After being infected with this disease, yellow stripes and spots will appear along the leaf veins, causing the flower stalks to turn green and the bulbs to become smaller and wither.

Prevention and control methods: Disinfection and sterilization are required before planting. Diseased plants should be pulled out and burned. In addition, pesticides should be sprayed to prevent insects from spreading toxicity.
