Eggplant pests and diseases and their control

Cataplexy

This disease usually occurs in the eggplant seedling stage, and is manifested by water-soaked areas at the base of the seedlings near the soil. The areas will then shrink into a linear shape, and the seedlings will fall to the ground before their leaves fall off. To prevent the occurrence of this disease, we need to ventilate the plants more, maintain moderate light, and avoid excessive watering. You can also use 800 to 100 times diluted 58% Ritomycin or 600 times diluted 72.2% Prochlorpera for prevention and control.

Brown streak disease

This disease is also a common disease of eggplant, which manifests as the spots on the leaves changing from water-soaked state at the beginning to brown rings with grayish white and small black spots on the edges. The fruit will also develop spots which will slowly develop into a brown color. In this case, we try to choose varieties with good resistance, do a good job of ventilation, and appropriately reduce the humidity of the soil. You can use 1500 times diluted fenpropimorph or 600 times diluted 50% fungicide for prevention and control.

Cotton blight

This disease appears as some water-soaked circular spots on the fruit, which then turn brown and sunken. Occasionally, dense white mold will appear, eventually causing the fruit to rot or even fall off. For this reason, we need to prune them frequently during their growth period to ensure the flow of light and air. It can also be combined with special drug spraying treatment, which will have a very good effect.

aphid

The main insect pests are aphids, which can be treated by directly spraying with special pesticides. There are also mites, which are quite harmful. If they occur on flowers, you can use 1500 times diluted cypermethrin to control them.
