Common diseases and insect pests of Pyracantha and their control

Pyracantha powdery mildew

Powdery mildew of Pyracantha is the most common disease of Pyracantha. This is a disease caused by fungal infection. If Pyracantha is planted indoors and the indoor ventilation conditions are poor and the lighting conditions are very poor, it will cause Pyracantha powdery mildew. Once this disease occurs, it will harm the leaves, flowers and fruits of Pyracantha. Light-colored spots will appear at the site of the disease, and later it will develop into white powdery substances, finally causing the leaves to wither and even leading to the death of the entire Pyracantha plant.

Prevention and control methods of Pyracantha powdery mildew

First of all, we need to ventilate the planting environment of Pyracantha regularly and ensure that Pyracantha can get sufficient light, so as to prevent the occurrence of Pyracantha powdery mildew. Once Pyracantha is infected with powdery mildew, we must dispose of the infected dead leaves in time, and then spray medicine to treat powdery mildew such as lime sulfur and thiophanate-methyl.

Pyracantha Pests

Pyracantha is generally rarely attacked by insects. In spring, Pyracantha may be harmed by aphids, which may harm the leaves and rhizomes of Pyracantha and affect its growth. In autumn, there may be damage caused by the nymphs of the pear bug.

Pyracantha pest control

When insect pests occur, we must eliminate them in time and not let them develop, as this will harm the growth of Pyracantha. When aphids appear, we can use natural methods, such as placing a few winged ladybugs to prey on aphids, or using diazinon spray to kill aphids. This method can also be used to kill the nymphs of pear bugs.
