How to deal with insects in plum bonsai, what to do if the plum tree is infested with insects

1. What to do if there are worms

1. Pest control: After discovering that the plum bonsai is infested with insects, the first thing to do is to control the insects. There are different treatment methods for different pests. For example, aphids need to be sprayed with imidacloprid solution, scale insects need to be eliminated with carbofuran, and red spiders can be controlled with Beluga pesticide.

2. Changing the soil: Using pesticides to kill insects is only the first step. It only eliminates the pests on the surface, but there are still some insect eggs remaining in the soil. When they hatch, they will harm the plants again. Therefore, the soil needs to be changed in time. After changing the soil, the insect eggs will be removed by us.

3. Prevention: After the pest control is completed, in order to avoid further infestation by pests in the future, preventive work must be done. The first thing is to pay attention to ventilation. An environment with poor air circulation is more likely to attract pests. Secondly, appropriate fertilization should be applied, which can increase resistance to diseases and pests. Finally, check regularly to see if there are no pests.

2. Common Pests

1. Peach pink aphid: This pest mainly harms the tender shoots of plum blossoms, sucking the sap of the plant, causing the leaves to turn yellow, the stems and branches to become thin and soft, and affecting its growth. It is necessary to spray with 10% imidacloprid solution.

2. Scale insects: Many species of scale insects may be harmful to plum blossoms. Due to their waxy outer shell, spraying pesticides on adult insects is not effective. Generally, prevention should be carried out in May when the pests hatch. Use 50% carbofuran or 50% malathion solution for spraying.

3. Red spider mites: One of the more common spider mites, its adult can cause damage to the back of leaves, causing them to turn yellow and fall. Generally, 25% of Beleba solution or 20% of Methotrexate solution is used to eliminate it.

4. The caterpillar moth: The caterpillar moth is also a common pest. Its larvae will eat the leaves of plum blossoms and affect the flowering of the plants. Generally, overwintering insect eggs need to be eliminated in autumn and winter, and light is needed to lure and kill the adult insects.
