What to do if the money tree has root rot? How to save it

1. Remove from the basin

When the roots of the money tree rot, it needs to be treated immediately, so the plant should be removed from the pot immediately. Before removing the plant from the pot, you need to loosen the soil appropriately. Do not pull it out forcibly, otherwise it will cause greater damage to the roots. After carefully taking it out, put it in a basin filled with water and wash off the soil stuck to the roots, exposing the roots completely.

2. Root Pruning

After the money tree is removed from the pot and its roots are washed, it can be pruned. Before pruning, you need to disinfect the scissors. You can soak them in potassium permanganate solution and take them out after a few minutes. Use sterilized scissors to cut off all rotten roots and apply wood ash on them to prevent infection of the wound. Then put it in semi-shade and wait for it to dry slowly.

3. Soil Preparation

After pruning the roots of the money tree, it is time to prepare it for potting. Before that, new potting soil must be prepared and the old soil cannot be used again to avoid rotting again. The new soil can be mixed with peat soil, perlite and river sand in a ratio of 3:1:1. This ensures good drainage and that the soil does not adversely affect the development of new roots.

4. Planting

After the wounds of the money tree are dry, you can prepare to pot it. Choose a pot of the right size, place the plant upright in it, and fill it with soil. Do not water immediately after potting, and avoid direct sunlight. Wait until the plant resumes growth, then you can carry out normal maintenance.
