What to do if the core of the cymbidium orchid leaves turn yellow

What to do if the core of the cymbidium orchid leaves turn yellow

1. Yellowing caused by poor lighting

Cymbidium is a plant that loves sunlight, but cannot stand strong light. Generally, diffuse light is best. Too weak light is not good either, as it will cause it to grow poorly and develop some symptoms, such as yellowing leaves. Generally, if it is grown indoors, try to ensure that the placement meets the needs of the cymbidium. It should not be exposed to strong light, but must provide sufficient scattered light.

2. Yellowing caused by improper watering

Although Cymbidium orchid likes a humid and warm environment, if there is too much water in its potting soil, its roots will rot and its leaves will turn yellow. When watering cymbidium, be sure to use clean water that is close to the water temperature. Also, decide the number of days between watering according to the actual situation. When watering, also be careful to water slowly and not rush!

3. Yellowing caused by excessive fertilization

Cymbidium is not suitable for watering with fertilizer, otherwise its flowering period will be shortened. Improper use of fertilizer will cause fertilizer damage. The best time to fertilize is after its flowering period.

4. Yellowing caused by low temperature

Cymbidium is relatively cold-resistant, but it cannot grow normally if the temperature is too low, otherwise its leaves and flowers will be damaged. The main manifestation of the leaves is yellowing and withering. For this type of damage, you can only cut off the damaged leaves, control the temperature, and slowly adjust the condition. It is generally not fatal.

five. Unsuitable environment

Cymbidium likes humid air, but if the humidity is too low and the temperature is high, the leaves will easily turn yellow. When it is grown indoors under direct air conditioning or close to a heater, the leaves are also prone to burnt edges and yellowing. You can spray water on its leaves several times a day to increase the humidity of the small environment, but it should not be too humid, and you should cut off the yellow leaves in time.
