What is the reason for the dry tips of osmanthus leaves

What is the reason for the dry tips of osmanthus leaves

Watering Problems

The soil for osmanthus should have good air permeability and be afraid of waterlogging. It is best not to water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly each time. It is afraid of flooding and waterlogging. If it encounters waterlogging, the roots will turn black and rot, the tips of the leaves will burn first, and then the whole leaves will turn yellow and fall off, leading to the death of the whole plant.

Lighting issues

Osmanthus is a light-loving plant, so the degree and duration of light exposure should be appropriately arranged.

Humidity issues

When the temperature rises or the environment is dry, we try to use shading and spraying methods to improve the environmental humidity. Generally speaking, it is the tips of old leaves that are dry, and the condition will improve as long as the humidity is increased by more than 60%.

Temperature issues

The optimum growth temperature is 15~28℃. Low or high temperatures may cause problems.

Ventilation Problems

Ventilation needs to be increased in a timely manner. It is suitable to be planted in a well-ventilated and lighted place; it likes a clean and ventilated environment and is not resistant to the harm of smoke and dust.

Fertilization issues

Usually, potassium fertilizer and humus fertilizer should be added to improve its own disease resistance.

Germ problem

Brown spot disease: In the early stage of the disease, small yellow spots of chlorosis appear on the leaves, which gradually expand into nearly circular spots. Brown spot disease generally occurs from April to October, and old leaves are more susceptible to the disease than young leaves.

Leaf spot disease, the pathogen of this disease mostly invades from the leaf margins and leaf tips, and occurs on the leaf margins and leaf tips. In the early stage of the disease, small light brown spots appear on the leaves, which gradually expand into round or irregular spots, and then expand into nearly round or irregular gray-brown spots with dark brown edges. Blight occurs from July to November and can occur throughout the year in greenhouses with poor environmental conditions.

Anthracnose, this disease infects the leaves of osmanthus. In the early stage of the disease, small chlorotic spots appear on the leaves, which gradually expand to form circular, semicircular or elliptical spots. The lesions are light brown to grayish white with reddish brown rings around the edges. Under humid conditions, pale pink myxospore disks appear on the lesions. Anthracnose occurs from April to June.

Prevention and control measures: First of all, we must reduce the source of infection. Thoroughly remove diseased fallen leaves in autumn. The diseased leaves of potted osmanthus should be removed in time. Secondly, strengthen cultivation management. Choose fertile, well-drained soil or substrate for planting osmanthus; apply more organic fertilizer and potassium fertilizer; the planting density should be appropriate to allow ventilation and light, reduce leaf moisture and reduce the occurrence of diseases. Use pesticides scientifically for prevention and control.
