What to do if the tips of Chunlan leaves dry up

Pests and diseases

The main reason for the drying of spring orchid leaf tips is infection with anthracnose and round spot disease. During the rainy season, the temperature is hot and humid. During this period, it is best to spray 1000 times of 50% carbendazim or 500 times of 50% captan, once every 10 days, and spray 2 to 3 times in a row as a preventive measure.

Cold

Orchids are not cold-resistant. Be careful not to let them be attacked by the sunset when the temperature drops in late autumn. Place them in a sheltered and warmer location, otherwise the leaf tips will easily dry out or the leaves will become lighter and yellower. After entering winter, the temperature drops sharply. When the temperature approaches 0℃, the flower pots should be moved to a well-ventilated and sunny location indoors for maintenance.

When spring comes and the weather becomes slightly warmer, other flowers have begun to be moved outdoors, but don't be too anxious to move spring orchids outdoors. Because of the changeable climate, the temperature can easily drop, and there may even be spring frost or strong winds. Do not let it suffer from sudden cold damage.

Improper watering

In autumn, keep the soil in the pot moist to prevent it from being too dry and causing the leaf tips to wither. Do not water too much in winter to prevent the plants from frostbite and root rot. If the leaf tips of the plants have dried up but the condition is not serious, you should use sharp scissors (disinfected with alcohol) to cut them off 1 cm away from the dry tip. Do not leave any dead leaves on the surface of the pot before spraying the pesticide.
