How to grow grape hyacinth

How to grow grape hyacinth

1. How to plant grape hyacinth

1. Bulb treatment: Before planting grape hyacinths, we must first check whether the bulbs are moldy. If necessary, cut off the moldy parts, soak them in a 1000-fold diluted carbendazim solution for half an hour, take them out and put them in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

2. Prepare the potting soil: Generally, a flower pot with a diameter of 12 cm can plant 5-6 bulbs. Try to choose loose and fertile humus soil, such as pine needle soil and leaf mold. You can also directly use the special nutrient soil for bulbs sold in the flower market.

3. Planting bulbs: Fill the bottom of the pot with soil. You can mix some chicken manure in the bottom soil as base fertilizer, and then fill a layer of plain soil, which is soil without fertilizer. Then place the hyacinth bulbs with the buds facing up on the soil surface, cover with 5-6 cm of soil, and water thoroughly.

2. How to grow grape hyacinth

1. Place the planted grape hyacinths in a well-ventilated place with diffused light. They will sprout in about half a month. After sprouting, move the potted plants to a sunny place and expose them to more sunlight to prevent them from growing too tall. During this period, when you feel that the soil in the pot has become noticeably lighter, water them thoroughly.

2. Grape hyacinth is generally planted in winter. After the leaves of the plant grow out, you can water it with fertilizer and water with a balanced content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Water it once every half a month, apply thin fertilizers frequently, and switch to phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before flowering, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, and stop fertilizing after flowering.

3. After the grape hyacinth flowers fade, cut off the remaining flowers, keep the leaves, add compound fertilizer and water, and continue to let it bask in the sun to accumulate nutrients through photosynthesis to provide nutrients for the growth of the bulbs. After the leaves on the ground turn yellow, dig out the bulbs.

4. Place the dug bulbs in a cool and ventilated place to dry, then wrap them in newspaper and place them in a dry and ventilated place, and wait until winter to continue planting them!
