The correct way to water camellia, how to remedy overwatering of camellia

1. Watering time

Camellia needs to be watered all year round. In order to ensure that the water is well absorbed, you must pay attention to the timing of watering. Usually in summer when the temperature is high, watering should be done in the morning and evening, not at noon, otherwise the water will evaporate quickly, causing the ground temperature to drop and affecting root development. In winter, due to the low temperature, watering should be done at noon when the environment is warmer, which is also helpful for water absorption.

2. Control the amount of water

Camellia is a plant that likes moisture, so it needs to be watered frequently, but the amount of water should not be too much, otherwise it will easily cause root rot. Normally, you should water it thoroughly after the soil is completely dry. This will ensure that it has sufficient moisture without affecting its growth. You can water it every day in summer, and you can also spray water around it to increase the air humidity. In winter, water the plant according to the room temperature, usually once every three days, and keep the soil moist.

3. Water quality and temperature

Camellia does not grow well in a neutral or alkaline environment, and it cannot be watered with alkaline water. It needs to be acidified. Generally, an appropriate amount of ferrous sulfate should be added, and the concentration should not exceed 0.5%. You can use river water or rain water. If you want to use tap water, you need to leave it for 1-2 days to wait for the chlorine to evaporate before using it. When watering in winter, you must pay attention to the water temperature. Do not use cold water directly. Just keep the water temperature consistent with the room temperature.

4. What to do if you water too much?

If you water the camellia too much, it will not only affect the growth of the plant, but in severe cases it will also cause its roots to rot and die. It is usually necessary to drain the excess water first, then place the plant in a well-ventilated place, loosen the soil appropriately, and accelerate the evaporation of water in the soil. If water has been stagnant for a while, remove the plant from the pot and check whether the roots are rotten. Cut off the rotten roots and replant with dry soil.
