What is the reason for the root rot of water-grown spider plants? How to deal with the root rot of water-grown spider plants

1. Causes of root rot

1. Water quality problem: If the water is not changed for a long time during water cultivation, the water quality will deteriorate and there will be pollutants in it, which will hinder the growth over time. The oxygen content in it will also decrease, and the plants will rot due to lack of oxygen. Pay attention to changing the water in time, and clean water is required for normal growth.

2. Too much fertilization: Fertilizer should be added regularly to water-grown spider plants to ensure sufficient nutrients. But if there is too much fertilizer, it will burn the roots, which will cause root rot. In the later stage of fertilization, it is better to apply less rather than more. Just put a few grains of urea fertilizer each time to meet its nutrient needs.

3. The temperature is too low: The temperature requirement for water culture is relatively high, and it is best to maintain it between 15 and 25 degrees. It has very poor cold resistance. If the temperature is below 12 degrees, it will grow slowly. If it is below 5 degrees, it will be frostbitten and the roots will slowly rot. The temperature must be controlled. It is best to keep it above 12 degrees in winter.

2. Treatment after root rot

When you find rotten roots, remove them as soon as possible and cut off the rotten parts. After pruning, the plant must be disinfected. If there is no disinfectant, it must be placed in a cool place to dry the wound before being potted, so that it can grow normally later. If not handled in time, it will become infected and the root rot will become more serious. In addition, the containers must also be disinfected to avoid bacterial infection.
