How to prepare soil for Phalaenopsis and what kind of soil is suitable for cultivation

1. Soil requirements

Phalaenopsis is an epiphytic orchid that cannot grow directly in the soil, but must grow on some other substrate. Therefore, when raising it, you cannot use the traditional culture soil. You must use epiphytic orchid planting material that is sufficiently breathable and has good drainage so that it can grow normally.

2. Soil preparation method

There are many materials that can be used as alternative planting materials. Materials such as sphagnum moss, rotten bark, gravel, expanded clay, coconut shells, fern roots, and peanut shells are all excellent alternative materials. By mixing them together, you can make planting material suitable for growing Phalaenopsis. If you are not sure about the ratio, you can mix sphagnum moss, rotten bark and expanded clay in a ratio of 1:1:1.

3. Key points of training

1. Light: It likes a bright environment and is not suitable for growing in places with strong light. When raising it, be sure to place it in a place with only scattered light and avoid exposing it to direct sunlight.

2. Watering: It likes moisture. When caring for it, you should water it in time and in an appropriate amount to keep its planting material at a certain humidity, which is very beneficial to its growth.

3. Changing the soil: The planting material cannot be used all the time and needs to be replaced regularly. Usually it needs to be replaced every 1-2 years. This can keep the planting materials sufficiently permeable to prevent them from deteriorating and affecting the growth of the plants.
