Cultivation method of evergreen dianthus

Cultivation method of evergreen dianthus

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The temperature suitable for its development is 15-20 degrees. If the temperature is too low, it will affect its metabolic function. If the temperature is below five degrees, it will easily be frostbitten. Therefore, if it is raised in the north, try to avoid open-air maintenance. High temperature environment will affect the flowering period of the plant and shorten it. The maximum temperature should not exceed 30 degrees.

2. Watering: It is drought-resistant and barren-resistant, and needs to be watered in moderation. Generally, it is most appropriate to water it once a week to ten days. If it is maintained in the open field, drainage needs to be done well in the rainy season to prevent the roots from being waterlogged.

3. Fertilization: As mentioned above, it is tolerant to barrenness, so excessive fertilizer is not required during maintenance. If there is base fertilizer in the soil before planting, then it is sufficient to fertilize once a month during its growing period. If there is no base fertilizer, the fertilization interval can be reduced to once every 20 days. No fertilizer is needed in winter, but top dressing is needed once before autumn. This top dressing can ensure the nutrient needs of the plant over the winter.

4. Light: It likes sunlight, and needs proper shade in summer, and the main lighting method is diffuse light. The sunlight in other seasons is not strong and normal light can be obtained.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: If the plant is propagated by cuttings, the time is usually September. Cut healthy branches from the plant, cut them into small sections of about eight centimeters, insert them halfway into the sand, water them thoroughly, and place them in a warm environment for maintenance. They will grow roots in about 20 days.

2. Pruning: Dianthus can continue to bloom after pruning. If you want the plant to bloom more, you can pinch the top. The purpose of pinching is to disperse nutrients and promote the germination and flowering of side branches. When pruning, you should cut off the axillary buds to avoid unnecessary nutrient consumption.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: It is easy to be infected by red spider mites. If red spider mites are found on the plant, you can dilute the omethoate emulsifiable concentrate and spray it for treatment.

2. Pathology: If the plant is found to be infected with root rot, you can use pesticides such as Benomyl to spray it. During the breeding process, spraying it with fungicide every half a month can effectively prevent the occurrence of root rot.

IV. Other issues

1. Function: It can absorb poisonous gas, sulfur dioxide and chlorine. In places where there is poisonous gas, you can place a few more pots of evergreen dianthus.

2. Can it be cultivated indoors: It can be cultivated indoors. The plant is not tall and the requirements for the maintenance environment are not high. These conditions meet the conditions for indoor maintenance, so it can be planted indoors.
