How to plant Xanthoceras sorbifolia

How to plant Xanthoceras sorbifolia

1. Collect seeds

When the fruit is ripe, you can remove the seeds from the center. The seeds must be processed before sowing because the shell is hard and it will be difficult to germinate and survive if not processed. You can wrap the seeds in wet sand, place them in a sunny place, and use high temperature to germinate them. You can also soak them in warm water, take them out after cooling for 2-3 hours, then cover them with wet cloth and place them in a greenhouse to germinate. Wait until the seeds have cracks before you can sow them.

2. Start sowing

The sowing time is different in different regions. In North China, it can be sown in mid-April, while in Northeast China, due to the cold climate, it can be sown in early May. Before sowing, select a suitable substrate, then put the seeds in, place the hilum flat on it, cover with 2-15 cm of thin soil, and water it thoroughly.

3. Post-sowing maintenance

The seedlings will gradually grow out in the later stage. After the seedlings have grown, you should water them less to avoid water accumulation. Too much water will cause rot and death. It is also necessary to apply fertilizer appropriately, and apply more phosphorus fertilizer, to prevent excessive growth.

4. Planting

You can choose to plant in spring and autumn. First, dig a small hole, then straighten the plant and plant it in, leaving the roots spread out.
