Can cherry branches survive by grafting?

Can cherry branches survive by grafting?

1. Can it be inserted alive?

If you want to make cherry branches grow alive through cuttings, you need to choose the right time for cuttings and control the ambient temperature. If the timing is wrong, the branches may be falsely alive. Although they can grow new buds and flowers, they will not take root. In order to improve the survival rate of cuttings, the cuttings need to be properly processed.

2. How to take cuttings

1. Cutting time: Cherries are generally cut in spring, when the temperature will slowly rise, which is more conducive to its growth. The temperature is too high in summer, which easily breeds bacteria and affects root growth. The plants are easily frozen in autumn and winter, reducing their survival rate.

2. Cuttings processing: Choose a cherry tree that is healthy and free of diseases and insect pests. Cut a woody branch from above, about 15 cm long. Remove the leaves at the base of the branches and only keep the top 3-5 leaves. The incision should be cut into an oblique surface to increase the contact area with the soil, which is more conducive to rooting.

3. Cutting: Before preparing for cutting, soak the bottom of the branches in the rooting powder solution. Take it out after 30 minutes, wash it with clean water, and put it in a cool place to dry. Insert the dried branches into plain sand at a depth of about 10 cm, and then water them thoroughly.

4. Subsequent maintenance: After the cuttings are completed, in order to ensure that it can take root faster, a moist environment must be provided. Watering should be more frequent, and you can also sprinkle water around to increase the air humidity. At the same time, pay attention to shade to avoid sun damage to the cuttings.
