What kind of soil should be used for jasmine and how to maintain it

1. What soil to use

The soil used for jasmine planted in the ground or in pots is different. For ground planting, you can just use garden soil, and the soil requirements are not high. Potted plants need to have good water permeability and ventilation. It is best to use garden soil, compost and river sand in a ratio of 2:2:1 to prepare potting soil, and add appropriately decomposed cake crumbs or chicken and duck manure and other fertilizers.

2. Maintenance methods

1. Watering: Jasmine likes moisture and is not drought-tolerant. Therefore, there should be sufficient water at ordinary times, and you can water it when you see the soil in the pot is slightly dry. But be careful not to allow water to accumulate, as this will affect the breathing of the roots.

2. Fertilization: Jasmine has a high demand for fertilizer. Fertilizer should be applied every 2-3 days during the flowering period and also after flowering. It is best to use decomposed bean cake. In addition, it is necessary to water with alum fertilizer once a week to improve the pH of the soil and provide a better growing environment.

3. Light: Jasmine seedlings should not be exposed to light during the stage and should be placed in a cool place. Although it can accept sunlight during the growth period, it should also avoid direct sunlight. In winter, long periods of light should be provided to prevent branches from withering and leaves from falling.

4. Pruning: Pruning of jasmine is particularly important. The first pruning should be done after the flowers have faded, and the flowers should be removed in time to avoid waste and loss of nutrients. And before sprouting in spring, the branches need to be cut short to ensure that the branches grow strong and vigorous. It is also necessary to deal with dead branches and diseased branches in a timely manner, which is more beneficial to the growth of the plants.
