Mini Pond Container Options

If we talk about the containers that can be used to make waterscapes, there are actually quite a lot of them, because we can use any bucket, basin, trough or tray that can hold water.

For example, old wooden barrels forgotten in the storage room, discarded bathtubs from who knows how many years ago, and even pools made of cement and fine sand.

Of course! On the premise of ensuring that the container does not leak, it is best if its height is around 40cm and its diameter is around 60cm. The size of the container can also be adjusted according to the plant.

Mini Pond Plant Selection

1. Upright water

The erect water plants have an upright and graceful posture. The most commonly used ones are lotus, water bamboo, loosestrife, cattail, calamus, water spinach, lily, Alisma, and water hosta.

2. Floating water

Floating plants are ornamental, the most commonly used ones are water lilies, duckweed, and yellow water lilies.

3. Floating

Floating plants go with the flow and are mostly foliage plants. The most commonly used ones are water duckweed, water nymph, water hyacinth, and water duckweed.

4. Submerged

Dormant plants have the best ability to purify water, such as duckweed, black algae, bitter grass, web grass, crown grass, thorn algae, and water shield grass.

How to make a mini pond

1. Prepare containers (large iron basins) and aquatic plants. You can choose pond mud as the planting soil. Also prepare a few water filter baskets (vegetable baskets) to fix the soil.

2. Fill the iron basin with water, then fill the filter basket with pond mud. You can mix some fertilizer at the bottom to improve soil fertility.

3. Plant the water lilies in the pond mud and compact it slightly with your hands.

4. Cover the soil surface where you plant water lilies with 3 cm thick pebbles to make the potted plants clean and beautiful.

5. Hold the handrail of the filter basket tightly and slowly place the water lily into the iron bucket filled with water.

6. Use a smaller filter basket, plant the papyrus, and place it in the pool. If the filter basket is not high enough, you can put a small flower pot at the bottom.

7. Now that we have both emergent and floating plants, we can also plant a submerged water shield grass, which will sit at the bottom of the pool after planting.

8. Plant a few duckweeds in the empty corners of the pool.

9. Finally, we fill the mini pond with water so that the water lily leaves just float on the water surface.

10. After the mini pond is completed, place it in a place with sufficient scattered light. After the plants resume growth, raise a few small fish in the pond, which can also solve the problem of mosquitoes.
