Walnuts mature and go on the market at different times depending on their variety. Generally speaking, the maturity period of early-maturing and late-maturing varieties can differ by about 10-25 days. Walnuts in northern regions usually mature and go on the market in early to mid-September, while in southern regions they will mature and go on the market as early as July.
