Cultivation methods and precautions of dolphin flower

The flowers of the dolphin flower are beautiful, just like little dolphins, hence its name. Its maintenance method is actually very simple. It is beautiful and easy to grow, and its flowers are particularly cute. As long as a suitable growing environment is provided, the beautiful little dolphins can bloom with beautiful smiles all year round.

How to grow dolphin flower

1. Soil

It is very important to choose the soil when caring for the dolphin flower, because it is very afraid of waterlogging, so we must choose soil with good air permeability and good drainage. In addition to nutrient-rich leaf mold, we must also add some large-particle soil, such as river sand or perlite, so that the soil can be more air-permeable and water-permeable.

2. Temperature

The dolphin flower is native to South Africa, so it prefers a high-temperature growing environment and is not adapted to a low-temperature environment. Therefore, when caring for it in winter, it must be moved indoors and the room temperature must be controlled above 10 degrees to avoid frost damage.

3. Moisture

The dolphin flower has fleshy leaves and has good water storage capacity, so its demand for water is relatively low. Just keep the soil slightly moist. Follow the watering principle of "better dry than wet" and avoid excessive watering, otherwise it will directly endanger the life and health of the dolphin flower.

4. Lighting

Although the dolphin flower is a South African plant, it is not resistant to exposure to strong light. Normally, it only needs to be ensured to have sufficient scattered light. Of course, the light in spring, autumn and winter is relatively soft, so it can be exposed to some direct sunlight to allow it to bloom more flowers.

5. Fertilization

Although the dolphin flower has a strong flowering ability, it does not require much fertilizer. Generally speaking, applying a thin compound fertilizer once a month can meet its growth needs. You can even put some slow-release fertilizer directly in the flowerpot, and it will grow more vigorously without supplementing nutrients in the later stage.

Dolphin flower care precautions

Dolphin flowers should pay attention to their maintenance methods in summer. When the temperature is too high in summer, flower lovers should ensure good ventilation to avoid burning the roots of the dolphin flowers due to the hot and stuffy environment. At this time, shade measures should also be taken. Do not place them under strong direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves and flowers of the dolphin flowers will turn yellow.
