Does potted jasmine need plenty of sunlight? (Precautions for growing jasmine at home)

Does jasmine like sunshine?

Jasmine is native to tropical and subtropical regions, where there is plenty of sunshine almost every day. Over the long term, it has developed a light-loving growth characteristic, which means it loves sunlight very much.

If it is placed in a dimly lit location for a long time, it will easily cause problems such as excessive growth of branches and leaves and failure to bloom.

Therefore, it is necessary to place it in the location with the strongest light indoors or in the location with the strongest light in the yard. After jasmine receives sufficient sunlight, it will enter a state of vigorous growth and blooming.

How to care for jasmine at home

Keep the soil slightly acidic

Jasmine is quite particular about the soil, preferring soil with slightly acidic factors and averse to soil with alkaline factors. If it is planted in soil with alkaline factors, it will lead to poor plant growth, such as yellowing leaves, flowers not blooming, etc.

Therefore, it is recommended to use soil containing a slightly acidic factor for planting, such as a mixture of 3 parts of leaf mold and 2 parts of coarse sand, which can meet jasmine's needs for slightly acidic conditions.

Secondly, maintain a certain humidity

Jasmine likes a moist growing environment, and as a light-loving plant, it has a high demand for humidity. If the soil and air are dry for a long time, it will cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow and other growth problems.

Therefore, it is recommended to keep the environment moist except for keeping it slightly dry in winter. For example, when the soil surface is dry, it is necessary to water it thoroughly and spray water into the air to increase the humidity.

Finally, apply fertilizer properly

Jasmine likes a fertile growing environment, and due to its long flowering period and evergreen leaves, it requires adequate nutrition. If it is not fertilized and maintained for a long time, it will lead to poor plant growth and failure to bloom.

Therefore, it is recommended to carry out maintenance management of fertilization. Except for winter when fertilization is not allowed, nutrient-rich cake fertilizer water should be used in other seasons. After being diluted with clean water, it should be applied once every 20 days.
