How to grow purple sweet potatoes for high yield

1. Choose seeds: When choosing purple sweet potato seeds, you need to first check whether its shape is spindle-shaped, and whether the potato tubers have been bitten by insects. As long as there are no problems with these, they can be used as seed potatoes. After the potato tubers are dug out, they must be dried in the sun for a few days. After drying, they should be stored in the cellar.

2. Start raising seedlings: When the temperature stabilizes at above 15 degrees in spring, take out the stored potato tubers and place them on the seedbed. The interval between each tuber should be 5-10 cm. After placing the potato tubers, cover them with a layer of fine soil, pour some water on them, and then cover them with plastic film. Wait until the seedlings grow to 15 cm-20 cm before transplanting.

3. Planting method: Choose yellow soil or black soil with relatively high terrain and sufficient sunlight to plant purple sweet potatoes. Before planting, you need to plow the soil 25 cm to 30 cm deep, apply organic fertilizer and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. After applying the base fertilizer, rake the soil finely and flat.

4. Field management: After planting purple sweet potatoes, water them once to help them take root in order to increase the survival rate of the seedlings. Check the seedlings 3-5 days after planting. If any seedlings are missing, replenish them in time. After the seedlings survive, water them appropriately. During the period when the underground potato tubers are swelling, the ground should be kept moist.
