Time and method of five-needle pine cuttings

Five-needle pine cutting time

The most commonly used propagation method for five-needle pine is cutting propagation, which not only has a high survival rate but is also easy to operate. However, if you want the highest survival rate of cutting rooting, you must choose the right time for five-needle pine. The best time for cutting is from May to August.

Five-needle pine cutting method

1. Choose branches

When cutting five-needle pine, it is best to cut branches from healthy plants. The cut branches should be disease-free. After cutting, it is best to soak the branches in carbendazim for disinfection, and then place the branches in a cool place to dry.

2. Prepare the soil

Five-needle pine likes to grow in loose, fertile, breathable, well-drained acidic soil. The soil for cuttings can be prepared by mixing leaf mold, coarse sand, vermiculite and coal ash in proportion. After preparation, the soil can be exposed to the sun and disinfected.

3. Cutting method

Water the substrate in advance. Water thoroughly this time, but try not to leave water stagnant. In order to make the branches take root quickly, you can apply some rooting powder on the bottom of the cuttings, and then insert them into the soil. Insert the branches into the soil one-third of the way.

Maintenance of five-needle pine after cutting

After the five-needle pine is cut and grafted, it is best placed in a semi-shaded, ventilated place for maintenance. It has a certain drought resistance and does not require much water. During maintenance, there is no need to water the plant too much. It is best to keep the soil moist. It can take root in about a month in an environment of 18-28 degrees.
