How ferns reproduceThere are four main ways of reproduction for ferns, namely spore reproduction, cutting reproduction, bulbil reproduction and division reproduction. Among them, the more common reproduction method is spore reproduction, which is also its most important reproduction method. It belongs to asexual reproduction, has the highest survival rate, and is also the most convenient reproduction method. Common methods of propagation of ferns1. Fern spore reproduction Ferns can reproduce through spores, because spores generally grow together in clusters to form spikes. Conical spores can differentiate at the edges of pinnae or at the tops of veinlets, thus completing asexual reproduction. 2. Fern bulbil propagation When propagating ferns by bulbils, you need to use mature and healthy mother plants, pick the buds from the leaves, wash them with clean water, and then soak them in a rooting agent solution for about 10-20 minutes, and then spread them evenly in the soil. 3. Fern cutting propagation When propagating ferns by cuttings, you need to use 12-year-old branches, then cut them short to a length of 15 to 20 cm, and cut off the lower leaves. After disinfection, place them in a ventilated environment to dry, and then you can plant them. 4. Fern propagation by division Ferns can also be propagated by division. The mature mother plant needs to be removed from the pot, and then the soil on the roots needs to be cleaned. It is then cut into small plants of similar size, and then planted in new potting soil. |
