Can hibiscus be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics cultivation methods and precautions

Can hibiscus be grown hydroponically?

Hibiscus is a plant of the Malvaceae family, a species that can be used as medicine. People often plant it in their own yards, but it can also be grown hydroponically. Hibiscus grown in hydroponics can grow faster than when grown in soil.

Hibiscus hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Choose a suitable hibiscus and cut its branches. Generally, choose soft wood, which is not too old or too tender and is very easy to take root.

2. Remove most of the leaves at the bottom of the branch, leaving only a few smaller tender leaves at the top.

3. Soak the branches in disinfectant and let them dry.

4. Prepare a transparent container, fill it with appropriate clean water and nutrient solution, soak the branches about 3 cm in the water, and avoid soaking the leaves in the water.

5. Place the transparent container in a bright but sun-proof location, spray water around it regularly, and remember to change the water.

Precautions for growing hibiscus in water

1. When growing hibiscus in water, remember to change the water every one or two days. Generally, it will take about 2 weeks for it to take root and sprout.

2. In order to promote the reproduction of water-grown hibiscus, if the leaves are too large, you need to cut off 2/3 of them to avoid excessive water loss and affect the rooting of the hibiscus.

3. After the hibiscus takes root and sprouts, it needs to be exposed to light slowly, and the light intensity should be gradually increased. It is best to keep it in a place with more than 6 hours of light a day.
