Rapeseed planting time and method planting technology and field management

Rapeseed planting time

There are two planting times for rapeseed. Winter rapeseed is planted in the Yangtze River Basin, usually at the end of September, and matures at the end of May of the following year. Spring rapeseed is planted in the Northeast and Northwest regions, usually at the end of April and matures at the end of September.

Rapeseed Planting Methods

1. Apply base fertilizer

Rapeseed is suitable for growing in a fertile environment. Before planting, base fertilizer should be mixed into the soil to increase the fertilizer content of the soil. When choosing fertilizer, it is best to mix decomposed animal manure, ammonium carbonate, calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer, and potassium chloride, and apply it to the soil after fermentation for ten days.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

Before sowing rapeseed, the seeds with full grains and no diseases or insect pests should be soaked in warm water to activate and sterilize them, and then sowed in fertile, loose, well-drained soil. After planting, the rapeseed should be watered once to soak all the soil and wait for the rapeseed to germinate.

3. Transplanting and planting

After the rapeseed has successfully germinated and grown five to six leaves, it can be transplanted. Dig out the sturdy, disease- and insect-free rapeseed seedlings with soil and plant them directly in a ventilated and sunny field. Compact the soil at the roots of the seedlings to prevent them from falling over.

Rapeseed Planting Tips

After the rapeseed is transplanted, the fields should be inspected regularly. Once yellow and withered seedlings are found, they should be removed in time and healthy seedlings should be replanted. One week after transplanting, diluted urea or farmyard manure should be applied to the fields to increase the growth rate of the rapeseed seedlings and make them grow vigorously.
