Methods for promoting flowering of Kalanchoe

Methods for promoting flowering of Kalanchoe

Method 1: Choose a flower pot of the right size

The flowerpot for growing Kalanchoe should not be too big. Many friends think that when planting plants, the larger the flowerpot, the better the growth. This is a misunderstanding. If the plant is relatively small but a large flowerpot is chosen, this will cause the roots of the plant to grow recklessly in the soil. The nutrients in the soil will be used to grow the roots, while the leaves and flowers will have less nutrients and their growth will be weaker.

Method 2: Prune at the right time

To control the overall height of the plant, after the dormant period in the hot summer, autumn is the season when plants grow most vigorously. This is the case with Kalanchoe, so large-scale pruning of Kalanchoe should be carried out before the real autumn arrives. This will allow its new branches to grow better and make the plant thicker and shorter. At this time, auxiliary fertilization can make the Kalanchoe grow better. If the branches increase, there will naturally be more flower heads.

Method 3: Increase nutrition to promote flowering

Fertilization can be regarded as a small knowledge in flower cultivation. Many friends always think that they should apply more fertilizer when growing plants. One is to save trouble, and the other is that they feel that they have not applied fertilizer for a long time and should apply more fertilizer. But this is exactly wrong. For Kalanchoe, applying too much fertilizer at one time will cause a large area of its leaves to turn yellow, or the entire plant will begin to wilt. For Kalanchoe, fertilization should follow the principle of applying small amounts of fertilizer frequently. Top dressing should be done before flower buds appear and again during the flowering period.
