Agarwood seed sowing method

Agarwood seed sowing time

The agarwood tree blooms from March to May, and the fruit matures around July of the same year. The seed maturity time varies in different planting locations, earlier in some places and later in others. After the seeds are ripe, they can be sown immediately after being harvested, or they can be stored until sown in the spring of the following year. It takes five months from sowing agarwood seeds to flowering.

Agarwood seeds are sown in summer

Agarwood seeds can be sown in summer. Agarwood seeds must be sown in summer. It will not work after summer. Unlike other types of seeds, seeds must be sown within 15 days after being picked from the agarwood mother tree, otherwise the germination rate will drop sharply, and the germination rate may be 0 after 15 days.

Agarwood seed sowing method

Agarwood seeding and seedling raising can be done by row sowing or broadcast sowing. Sow in shallow furrows with a row spacing of 15-20 cm, or sow the seeds directly on the soil and lightly press the seeds into the soil. Cover with 10 cm thick fine sand, then cover with grass, water to keep moisture, and maintain 50-60% light transmittance.

Agarwood seed sowing management

1. Agarwood seeds can be soaked in water before sowing, which can increase the survival rate. Agarwood generally will not germinate, and the effect of sowing propagation is relatively poor.

2. Agarwood likes a warm and sunny environment. After the seeds germinate, sufficient light conditions need to be provided, and appropriate shade should be provided. The soil should be kept slightly moist during the growth period. Remember not to allow water to accumulate, otherwise it will affect the normal growth of agarwood.
