Does rye have a high yield? What is the yield per mu?

Is rye high yielding?

Rye is a high-quality special wheat with a very high yield, generally around 300-600 jin per mu. However, if it is a disease-resistant variety, the yield per mu can reach 700 jin. Therefore, choosing a suitable variety is the key to achieving high yields.

How to grow rye to get high yield

1. Site selection and land preparation

Rye is a crop that does not have high requirements for soil and can grow in poor soil. However, it is best to plant it in fertile loam with good drainage. Before planting, the land should be deep plowed and drainage ditches should be dug around it.

2. Intertillage and weeding

Rye can be sown in spring or autumn. The best sowing period is September-October. The seed rate is about 2 kg per mu. Calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer can be used for seed mixing. Drying the seeds in the sun for one hour in advance can increase the germination speed.

4. Irrigation and drainage

Pay attention to weeding during the seedling stage of rye. Glyphosate can be used once after the plants emerge. In addition, manual weeding can be adopted. At the same time, it is necessary to combine inter-row cultivation, loosen the soil, and promote the development of the plant root system.

5. Fertilizer and water management

Rye is relatively sensitive to fertilizer. Generally speaking, the more fertile the soil is, the higher the plant yield will be. In addition to applying base fertilizer before planting, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied in time after each harvest, and the yield-increasing effect will be very obvious.
