The seeds must have full grains, pure color, full maturity, and a germination rate of more than 95%.

How to get broccoli seeds

Let the broccoli grow until it blooms, grow real flowers, and then produce seeds on its own. The broccoli we usually eat is just its flower buds, it has not yet bloomed.

How to save broccoli seeds

If you purchased regular seeds, you can save them. If they are hybrid seeds, it is recommended not to save them for use. The second-generation seeds harvested from hybrid seeds will have their traits separated, and some will grow good and some bad, and their quality will be uneven.

Planting Broccoli Seeds

1. The most suitable seasons for growing broccoli are spring and autumn. In spring, the seeds are sown and seedlings are raised in mid-to-late January, and the plants are planted in late March to early April. After 50 to 60 days of seedling raising period, they can be harvested in mid-to-late May.

2. Choose plump, undamaged and disease-free broccoli seeds, soak them in 22-degree warm water for 15 minutes, then keep stirring until the water temperature drops to 20 degrees. Finally, soak them in warm water for 4 hours, take them out and wash them, wrap the soaked seeds with wet gauze, and then put them at 20 degrees.

3. Broccoli seeds grow best in an environment with loose and fertile soil, rich humus and good drainage and irrigation. Therefore, a humus-rich seedling bed should be selected. After selecting the seedling bed, deep plowing the soil half a month before sowing, and then one week in advance, sprinkle 15 kg of triple compound fertilizer, 5 kg of superphosphate fertilizer, and 2,500 kg of decomposed human manure on each acre of land, and finally level the land in preparation for sowing.
